A Noble Endeavour

Dr. Nani  Guha Founder Secretary
Dr. Sushil Kr. Mukhopadhyay, immediate past President of the Governing Body

It was a sense of patriotism combined with telling concern for the ailing people that inspired us to find Calcutta Heart Clinic & Hospital Society, as a non-commercial Socio Medical organization. This was registered in the year 1975 under West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961.
This society stands on its firm objective to provide all sorts of Socio Medical services to the needy in general and to the under privileged, in particular, through its two fold activities since inception. On one hand it provides all sorts of in-house Cardiac and other medical treatment facilities with utter sincerity and warm hospitality at minimum possible cost.
On the other hand it organizes a number of medical activities like holding of Pulse Polio programme, free Diabetic Clinic and distribution of free insulin among juvenile Diabetics, free preventive as well as curative medical camp at different slum areas, organizing various cultural programmes for emanicipation of ethical and moral values and participation in flood relief and disaster management in West Bengal and other parts of the country.
There are unceasing efforts among all the clinicians, nursing staff and members of society for continuous upgradation of medical treatment well as ethical and moral values for attainment of its noble objectives. In this process, the society has been able to develop a team of medical and non-medical staff, who along with social workers, have transformed its in-house treatment center to unique levels of hospitality and care and has created an environment of comprehensive total treatment.

At present, the main center of its in-house activities is a two storied hospital building at Salt Lake with a built-up area of 1952 This is built on corner plot of land measuring about 6403 sq. mtr., acquired by the Society from the Governmet of West Bengal through a lease agreement of 999 years in the year 1981. The existing building covers 1094 Sq. mtr. of land, which is just about 40% of the the total land belonging to the Society.

The Ongoing Project

The Society, in the process of expansion, is now constructing one four-storied fully equipped hospital building and one service building in the available portion of land at Salt Lake Premises. The building plans of both the proposed complexes, have been sanctioned by Bidhannagar Municipality and other statutory authorities. On completion of the entire project, Calcutta Heart Clinic & Hospital will be a state-of-art multi-disciplinary hospital of 200 beds with most of the medical specialities, to serve the needy at minimum cost in an environment of compassion and care. The total estimated project cost is Rs.25.07 Crores. Since this large sum of money cannot be generated only from internal sources and well-wishers associated with the Society, its an appeal to all socially conscious individuals and well meaning organisations to come forward and lend a helping hand for this noble endeavour. The Society looks forward to generous donations from India and abroad. All domestic donations are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80G of Income Tax Act. 1961. Foreign contributions can be made directly as the society is registered under the F.C.(R) Act, 1976.
